Bridging hardware, software, and human interaction.
At Arycs Technologies, I worked on the software behind a hardware testing platform, from its underlying Linux environment to the interfaces engineers use to control it. My role spanned system development, performance evaluation, and interface design, giving me ownership across different parts of the product.
An interface for a hardware product is different from one that lives only on a screen. It stands in for something physical that can be slow to respond, or in a state the user cannot see. Working with such constraints made me consider how interfaces communicate system behavior and provide feedback to help users better understand what is happening beyond the screen.
Owned software development tasks from initial requirements through implementation and debugging supporting the development and integration of the testing platform.
Investigated technical challenges and evaluated alternative approaches, providing findings that helped inform engineering decisions.
Worked with engineers across disciplines to understand their workflows and translate those needs into functional software and interface designs.
Unfortunately the specifics of my work are confidential. But if you want to talk more about my work, feel free to reach out.
shalinimraval@gmail.comI'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work at Arycs this summer. I came in knowing very little about hardware, and I'm leaving with a much deeper understanding of how software and hardware come together to build real-world products. I learned so much from the challenges, the projects, and especially the people around me.
A special shoutout to Pat and George for their patience, guidance, and willingness to answer my endless questions along the way. I couldn't have asked for better mentors!
